A: Yes, METAL GUARD has been tested by the Polish Oil and Gas Institute, the Military Armament Technical Institute, the ECOL laboratory, as well as by independent testers, automotive tuners and car mechanics.
Q: What effect does Metal Guard have on engine oil life?
A: METAL GUARD has no effect on oil ageing. The use of METAL GUARD alone keeps the mechanical system protected longer than with standard oil (the life of METAL GUARD on car engines is estimated to be over one hundred thousand kilometres), however, the use of METAL GUARD does not eliminate the need to change the oil in the engine.
Q: What effect does the additive have on seals and other engine components?
A: METAL GUARD has a neutral effect on all engine components - including rubber parts.
Q: Does Metal Guard change the viscosity of the oil?
A: No, METAL GUARD does not affect oil viscosity. This is confirmed by independent kinematic viscosity tests carried out in the ECOL laboratory, which are available on our website (sub-page ‘Technology’).
Q: How often should Metal Guard Engine and Transmission be used?
A: Every time the oil is changed, METAL GUARD is removed from the system, so we recommend that METAL GUARD Engine and METAL GUARD Transmission products are applied at every oil change.
Q: Can Metal Guard be used on motorbikes?
A: Yes, METAL GUARD can be used on motorbikes, including those with a wet clutch. In this case, we recommend the use of METAL GUARD Transmission, which can also be used as an engine oil additive.
Q: Does Metal Guard affect the structure or chemical composition of metal components?
A: No. METAL GUARD adheres to metal surfaces in the mechanical system and effectively stays on these surfaces even if the engine or transmission in question is not in use for a long time. At the same time, METAL GUARD does not form any permanent ‘hard’ structures on the metal surface, nor does it change these structures or the chemical composition of metal, plastic, rubber surfaces and parts, etc.
Q: Is Metal Guard safe?
A: Yes.
Q: How long does it take for Metal Guard to take effect?
A: METAL GUARD takes a few minutes to mix with the oil and begin to take effect. It reaches its full performance after travelling between 50 and 200 kilometres. METAL GUARD works continuously whether the engine (or gearbox, transmission, differential, machine, etc.) is running or not.
Q: I have a yacht that sits in the harbour for 10 months of the year. Is it worth using Metal Guard in such a case?
A: Yes, it is worth it. METAL GUARD, even when the engine is off for a long time, stays on metal surfaces and protects them from corrosion. Also, as soon as the engine is started, it starts to protect the engine in the standard METAL GUARD way.
Q: Can Metal Guard be applied to engines and systems in construction machinery, forklifts, etc.?
A: Yes, if a fairly standard oil or lubricant is used in the mechanical system in question, METAL GUARD can also be used. In the case of very non-standard or specialised oils, we suggest doing a first mix test of METAL GUARD with the dedicated oil for the machine.
Q: How does Metal Guard differ from other additives available on the market?
A: The positive results of METAL GUARD are due to its unique structure. In this case, our advantage lies in the use of extremely long-chain hydrocarbons. This makes the oil film much more effective in reducing friction, as well as improving heat dissipation.
Competitor products usually "apply" an additional layer of product on the surfaces of metal parts rubbing against each other, which, when applied again and again, de facto increases friction and drag in the engine, eliminating cylinder honing.
Q: Has Metal Guard been independently tested in a controlled environment by accredited laboratories?
A: Yes, METAL GUARD has been tested by the Oil and Gas Institute in a range of temperature conditions, from minus thirty to one hundred degrees. The product has also undergone long-term performance tests on more than 100 trucks with positive results. Metal Guard has also been tested by the ECOL laboratory.
Q: I use so-called ‘long life’ oil with a declared effectiveness of 30 000 kilometres. Can Metal Guard products be used with such oils?
A: Yes, METAL GUARD can be used with long life oils. Considering that the declared service life of 30 000 kilometres may not always be accurate in reality, the use of METAL GUARD is even more advisable. When the engine oil loses its properties, METAL GUARD will continue to protect your engine, gearbox, etc.
Q: How does Metal Guard differ from MG Red Line?
A: Metal Guard products offer the same effectiveness as our MG Red Line. The two product lines differ in their oil base – MG Red Line is designed for the extreme cold temperatures found in northern Scandinavia.
